I'm not a professional musician. I'm not even a particularly good amateur musician. The reason I have all these instruments around is for relaxation. I'm not terribly concerned if I don't turn into a rock god. On the other hand, if I turn into a rock, I'll probably be quite upset.
Several years ago I bought an Alesis QS-8 for myself to replace the Yamaha DX-7 I had a long time ago. It's a very nice studio-quality synthesizer. I'm still learning how to make use of all of its features, but I thoroughly enjoying playing on it in my free time, and it's a great way to unwind after work.
Since then, I've added an acoustic and an electric guitar back into the collection, as well as a clarinet and a violin (neither of which I'm particularly skilled at). I've been concentrating on playing the acoustic, to try and recover some skill with it. I'd like to devote more time to this, but it hasn't been a priority.
Once upon a time, I composed and recorded some instrumental pieces; five of those were formerly available at the old mp3.com under the artist name "Too Many Cats". The image at far left is the CD cover. The inspiration for the name is left as an exercise for the reader.
